Privacy Policy for Crazy Eights
Applies to the Crazy Eights game for Android (package no.ludde.crazyeights), published by Ludvig Pedersen. Last updated: 26 September 2026.
Your privacy is important, and Crazy Eights is built to handle as little information as possible. This policy explains what the game does with information, how it is used, and when anything leaves your device.
1. Information stored on your device
- The game keeps the state of a game in progress — the cards, whose turn it is and the running score — so that a game can continue after the app has been in the background. This is stored only inside the app on your device.
- There are no user accounts. You are never asked for a name, email address, phone number or any other personal detail.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of the app's data from your device.
2. Information sent from your device
Crazy Eights is a thin client: the rules and the computer players run on a server, so the game talks to the network while you play.
- Game server — to let the computer players choose their moves and to check that each move is legal, the app sends the current game state (the cards on the table and in the players' hands, the draw and discard piles, and the move counters) to the game server, which returns the updated game state. This data contains no personal information — no account, name, email address or location. It is used only to compute the next move, and no user profiles are built from it. The server runs on Microsoft Azure, which — like most hosting platforms — records technical request information such as the time of a request and the originating IP address in order to operate and secure the service. See the Microsoft privacy statement.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — usage statistics and diagnostics, for example that the app was opened, that a game was started and which features were used. This is used to understand how the game is played and to improve it, and it is not used to identify you personally. See the Firebase privacy and security page and the Google privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — if the app crashes or misbehaves, a report is sent with technical details such as device model, Android version, app state and log data, so that the problem can be found and fixed. See the Firebase privacy and security page.
Your data is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone other than the service providers listed above.
3. App permissions
- Internet — to reach the game server and Google's Firebase services while you play.
The app requests no other permissions: it does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files.
4. Advertising
Crazy Eights does not display advertisements, and your data is not used for advertising.
5. Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct and delete your personal data. Because the game stores its data on your device and has no accounts, you can exercise most of these rights directly — uninstall the app. For anything else, for example deletion of usage statistics or crash reports, contact us, or see Data deletion requests.
